Braian Rivera
Braian completed his undergraduate degree from Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá and is currently pursuing a Master of Science at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. He joined our team as a Graduate Research Assistant in January 2023 and is fully funded through a Panamanian overnment scholarship (SENACYT). His expertise includes, quality assurance, quality control, and the application of ISO standards to enhance process efficiency.
Research Summary
Lean Manufacturing, Discrete Event Simulation, Continuous Improvement, Line Balancing, Time study, Quality Control, Process standardization, Process efficiency, Production planning and capacity.
Braian’s research centers on developing a highly detailed Discrete Even Simulation (DES) model for high-mix, high-volume production systems with the identification of all the possible variables that can have an impact in the overall system. It integrates lean manufacturing tools to accurately represent the current state of operations, identify inefficiencies, and uncover opportunities for process improvement. His work involves raw material analysis, product architecture identification, time studies, Value Stream Mapping (VSM) implementation, line balancing, and simulating both current and optimized future states to evaluate potential improvements.
