Almas completed her Masters degree in Engineering Management and is currently pursuing PhD at the University of Alberta. She joined our team as a Graduate Research Assistant in January 2025.

Her research focuses on the design and development of an advanced Hybrid Manufacturing System that integrates both additive and subtractive manufacturing processes. The additive subsystem leverages a state-of-the-art Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) setup, utilizing a 6-axis FANUC robotic manipulator paired with the cutting-edge ESAB Aristo Edge 500R robotic welding system. Complementing this, the subtractive subsystem features a retrofitted Bridgeport CNC milling machine equipped with Beckhoff servo drives, servo motors, and a PLC for precise control. This integrated system is engineered to deliver superior hybrid manufacturing outcomes, combining the strengths of both processes to enhance surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and overall production efficiency.
