Muhammad Irfan
Irfan completed his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Engineering Management from the University of Bolton (RAK). He is pursuing a PhD in the Adams Lab at the University of Alberta and joined the team as a Graduate Research Assistant in September 2023.
Research Summary
Additive manufacturing, Sensor fusion, Machine learning
Metal 3D Printing, WAAM, Computational Numerical Analysis, Material Characterization
Irfan’s research focuses on the manufacturing and characterization of bimetallic structures, specifically 17-4PH and Inconel 625, manufactured through Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM). His work includes analysing the mechanical properties of the joints through testing and material characterization. Additionally, Irfan is developing a computational numerical model for simulating the WAAM process, aiming to optimize it.
